However, it is more likely that the name comes from the city of San Luis, Cuba, in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo tobacco region, which is particularly famous for the excellent wrapper leaves produced there.

In terms of timeline, the Saint Luis Rey factory and its assets were nationalized by the Cuban government in the 1960s. The brand was exclusively available in the UK market from the 1960s to the 1990s. After that, Habanos S.A. began exporting the brand worldwide.

Today, the brand is produced at the Briones Montoto factory in Havana, Cuba, where Romeo y Julieta cigars are produced.

As for the cigar,

the Saint Luis Rey Regios,

this is a cigar that had been discontinued and was re-released in 2018. This version sees a slight increase in length, from 47.8 inches to the new 5-inch size.

This cigar has a lovely appearance and is quite reminiscent of Romeo y Julieta.

After cutting the cap and lighting this cigar, you struggle to identify any specific flavor notes in it. This cigar feels more like a mild to medium cigar.

You get an even burn throughout the cigar, a nice ash build and a lot of thick, creamy smoke. This shows that this cigar has a very good structure, which is what you would expect from a Cuban cigar.

Nothing remarkable to get from it if you are used to the taste of a fuller, richer cigar like the

Partagas Serie E No 2,

Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour

or

Drew Estate Liga Privada No.9

.

This cigar, which is less well known than it is worth, makes a big profit in the flavor department. It is said to have been a favorite of Mr. Frank Sinatra in the 40s, when he made regular trips to Havana.

Appearance:
A nice medium brown Cuban Claro wrapper with a few light veins in this medium sized cigar. Not as beautiful as a Trinidad or H. Upmann.

Structure:
This cigar was firm to the touch and the triple cap was applied seamlessly. The Regios burns very straight and its ash is a prime candidate for the “long ash” contest.

Taste:
The palate is amazing before lighting. The power and elegance were evident from the start with an abundance of fine Cuban soil, some wet straw notes, undertones of rich Cuban coffee and plenty of aged tobacco. Like all good Habanos, the SLR Regios only improves with age.

Considering that it can be had for a reasonable price, the SLR Regios is a great bargain.

You will love it. Not as expensive as a

Montecristo Edmundo

or

Partagas D4

but with all the elegance of the former and the power of the latter. If you have the chance, please do yourself a favor and get a sample. This cigar truly strikes a true balance between strength and smoothness, which is rare for any cigar, Cuban or otherwise.

[1101,1153

0":"post-37775","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-cigar","7":"product_cat-cuban-cigars","9":"first","10":"instock","11":"shipping-taxable","12":"product-type-simple
["GET
