Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas
A cigar in the Minuto format, with a 42 gauge ring and a length of 110 mm, offered in boxes of 25.
Small Club Coronas
It is wrapped in a beautiful tobacco leaf with a color between Colorado and Colorado Claro.
The wrapper is smooth buttery and starts with warm aromas of coffee mixed with cedar, while the cold smoke offers an interesting note of nougat mixed with cedar. Once the flavors are lit, they start with a toasty note mixed with spice and a creamy flavor.
The air path is easy at first, but quickly opens up with big puffs of smoke coming out, it has a medium richness and the different flavors float together. On the smoke path, it picks up a bit with additional flavor notes of cherry, almond and coffee notes.
This cigar would be a great choice for the novice or more experienced smoker due to its medium profile and easily recognizable flavors. You can expect to enjoy this cigar for about 60 minutes.
Over the years, one of the things I have learned is that one of the best vitolas in Cuban cigars is the Petit Corona. Short, usually 30-minute smokes, offer a lot of flavor in a small package. The cigar we are reviewing today is one that is very popular. Let’s look at the details:
Size: 4.3 Length or 42 Gauge Ring
Wrap: Cuban Tobacco
Middle Layer: Cuban Tobacco
Filler: Cuban Tobacco
Construction of the Ramon Allones Small Club Coronas Cigar
The cigar is surprisingly well made. The cap and lid apply well and the wrapper looks nice and fairly smooth. The airway was a little loose before lighting, but acceptable.
The cigar burns very well and holds a decent ash before you flick it. At first you get the taste of cedar, cashews, light roasted coffee and some spice. Good flavors in such a small format. The cigar has a nice richness. The smoke lingers on the palate as well, lasting several minutes.
The flavor was more of the same in the final half. This is normal considering its size. The only difference is that the cigar is more bitter. The light roast coffee note goes straight to a full Italian roast coffee with notes of cedar, cashews and light spices. However, overall, the flavors can be enjoyed.
This cigar is a top choice for many who believe that in Cuban cigars, the small coronas always win. It is overshadowed by its big brother, the Specially Selected, which is a popular robusto.
The biggest problem with this cigar is that it sits in a crowded line of competitors such as:
Partagas Petit Corona
Montecristo no4
Bolivar Petit Coronas
San Cristobal De La Habana El Principe
Cohiba Siglo II
and
Por Larranaga Petit Coronas
, all of which are stellar in their own right. Even the competition with the Partagas Short, demi corona.
However, this is a winning cigar and one worth saving, as the aged samples make this cigar a unique choice among all its competitors.
Don’t miss out on this cigar, give it a try.
I’m sure you’ll be impressed.
