El Rey Del Mundo Gran Coronas
This full-bodied Grand Corona from El Rey del Mundo has an indescribable appeal with its reddish-brown color and skillful structure. Once lit, it offers a wide range of flavors that begin with a strong, earthy character and develop into toasty notes with cedar and leather. Traces of cocoa and a smooth woody finish provide a pleasant balance,
while the cigar’s firm draw and oily texture enhance the overall smoking experience. Although it initially shows a bit of bitterness, the complexity deepens with each puff, revealing subtle cinnamon and cherry undertones. This vintage cigar is not only an unforgettable pleasure but also promises to develop more depth with age.
A sleeping giant that seems to be almost extinct these days. The Corona Gordo is a great size when you want something a little more comfortable than a very thin gauge ring cigar but don’t want to stray into Robusto territory.
The air draw is good, the flavor is a bit spicy and tobaccoy when cold and off, with a hint of peach.
The cigar lights up easily and
straight after lighting it gives an immediate hit of peach and plum notes, one of the few times a raw aromatic reflects the cigar being lit. There is a hint of cedar but it is hidden in the background. The smoke comes out in big velvety clouds, very lovely.
It continues to maintain its airy draw, the peach and fruity notes continuing. The plum darkness just lingers, just enough to be interesting but not to the fore. A distinct floral aroma creeps in. Still on the mild side, but full of flavor.
The last third and things darken towards a syrupy honey concentrate. That intense peach still carries the load and the plum just adds a tang at the end. The sweetness has increased throughout the smoke which is a nice change.
We would have liked to see the floral notes come out a bit more but this was a brutal display of peach dominance. A rare example of perfect structure, the burn didn’t miss a beat the whole way through. A great change of pace as it’s not very common to find such a peach dominant core these days.
