The oldest cigar factory in Cuba, Partagas was founded in 1845 by Don Jimmy Partagas Ravelo, when he left Spain for Havana. Owner of several tobacco plantations in Vuelta Abajo, a land known as the “grand cru” of tobacco in the world, Don Jimmy had at his disposal the best raw materials to produce excellent cigars. Success soon came and many nobles of all nationalities were among his loyal customers, to the point that the factory was almost renamed the “Manufacture Royale”.

Inspired by the avant-garde of its founder, Partagas was the first factory to experiment with different fermentation techniques and was also the first to use the services of a “singer”, which made the work of the torcedors less monotonous and, above all, to the culture and training of its employees.

After the death of Don Jimmy Partagas Ravelo, the factory underwent several changes of ownership until it came into the possession of the Cifuentes family in 1940.
