Cohiba Siglo IV Review

The Siglo IV is one of the thickest and longest cigars in the Siglo line. At 143 mm (5.6 inches) long and with a 46 gauge ring, it is a classic Grand Corona. The dark leaf wrapper and spice and pepper flavor profile are notable.

All components of the Siglo IV are grown and assembled in Cuba. The Cohiba brand is the flagship of Habanos, S.A. and has a rich history of exclusivity due to its use as a gift for diplomats. The Siglo line was introduced in 1992 to provide a more accessible and affordable option for enthusiasts around the world.

As a Grand Corona, the Siglo IV offers a balanced size that has enough flavor and a decent burn time without being too intense. The overall flavor and undertones balance savory and sweet notes, in a smooth cigar that tastes as good as it looks.

Construction

The wrapper is a bit darker than some other Siglos, but the overall flavor is still in the mid-range. All Cohibas are known for their quality packaging and wrapping, and the Siglo IV is no exception, despite its lower price.

The cigar is a bit hard to smoke and the well-packed tobacco provides a significant amount of smoke for its average ring size. Overall, this is a well-made cigar that lives up to the standards that Cuba and Cohiba are known for.

Flavor Profile of the Cohiba Siglo IV Cuban Cigar

The Siglo IV starts off with some peppery notes that are common among Cuban cigars, but the main emphasis is on sweet and woody flavors. The first third opens with creaminess, with nutty undertones and even bready flavors.

The second third is richer in flavor, with more earthy and cedar notes. The peppery notes emerge in the final third, but never overpowering. The cigar remains smooth and enjoyable until the final third, without any spiciness or bitterness.

The Siglo IV has a moderate price tag that reflects its quality. For special occasions, there are more complex and elaborate Cuban cigars to smoke. But no cigar aficionado will complain about the Siglo IV being the only cigar left in their humidor.

This cigar is a balanced everyday smoke that is high quality but in the mid-range price range. It is a worthwhile indulgence for casual smokers who usually stick to budget brands. It is also a perennial favorite for smokers who love their Cuban cigars.

The Cohiba Siglo IV is a great example for almost any type of cigar enthusiast. Beginners will notice the improvement in quality over other brands, while experienced smokers can find a good value everyday smoke.

This cigar has the potential to age, although these are cigars you can smoke every day without getting bored.
