Beauty and Structure

This cigar has an uneven medium brown color with one or two medium veins on the wrapper. To the touch, the Generosos is compact with a slight springiness in the center.

First few puffs:

This time, we decided not to cut the tip of the cigar and let it open on its own. As expected from a cigar of this shape, the first few puffs are tight on the palate and the smoke output is low. However, the smoke itself is light and aromatic. Reminiscent of sweet caramel. In terms of taste, the first few puffs offer a mild but pleasant tobacco flavor with a short, woody finish.

First Third

At about half an inch, the Generosos starts to really open up, creating a smoky heat at the top of the mouth and a hint of wood on the tongue. The finish remains short overall. There’s not much pressure in the back of the throat in terms of body and richness, so the cigar’s flavor profile takes center stage here.

Second Third:

A grayish-gray color, with occasional white flecks here and there, holds for a good inch. The burn remains even, negating the fizzy nature of a Figueroa. The caramel that was initially derived from the aroma of lighting hits the palate in the second third.

The wood flavor intensifies with it, but each flavor works to balance the other. This handsome pair is rounded out by a coffee-like note and a creamy finish. While the cream appears on every palate, the note is most evident when passing through the nose. However, moving further into the second third, the caramel sweetness and wood remain, but the cream and peppery spiciness of the first third fade from view.

The Final Third

Instead of cream, bitter cocoa takes over the cigar until the end. The wood flavor is present to provide a familiar Cuban twist to an otherwise surprisingly small cigar. The finish lengthens as the cigar shortens, and this longer finish provides a new layer of depth in the last 15 minutes or so.

It was an encouraging presentation for the Cuaba brand. While the smoke time was shorter, the complexity of flavor and the consistency of the structure make for a pleasant smoking experience. You will definitely be looking to buy more and follow up on this review.
